We are pleased to announce the release of our newest version of CAST IRON SOVENT® DESIGN MANUAL #802 - ©2004. Since its earlier release in 1990, the plumbing industry has undergone many changes. Cast Iron Sovent® has adapted to these changes in varying ways and Conine Manufacturing Co., Inc. now brings you the most comprehensive source of information available. Here are some new things to look for.
Updated graphics will present a clearer insight to the design, installation and inspection of the Cast Iron Sovent® system. The illustrations offer reinforcement to the written rules and include techniques used in today’s construction industry. All current technical bulletins and updates are now integrated. These include new fitting configurations, piping requirements, additional sizing information and notices that were previously shown on separate sheets. Installation and inspection guidelines have been added along with suggested ceiling and wall space clearances. Additional piping diagrams offer even more ways to adapt Cast Iron Sovent® to your multistory project.
An electronic version E802.04 is now offered in PDF (9 mb) for immediate download by clicking here. We also offer “Kwik-Refs” for faster downloads that detail the written rules , loading tables and fitting dimensions.
Many of these changes are the result of feedback from customers and clients. We appreciate their contributions and welcome additional comments concerning our latest offering. Conine Manufacturing Co., Inc. is proud to be the industry leader for Cast Iron Sovent® Single-Stack DWV systems.
The following updates pertain to criteria published in CAST IRON SOVENT® DESIGN MANUAL #802 -©1990 and will become part of future manual updates as they occur. Complete printed copies are available by contacting our office and requesting the appropriate bulletin number.
Technical Bulletin #TB-0692 – Fixture Connections Into Horizontal Portions Of Sovent Drains
Summary: All connections into the horizontal drain at the base of the Sovent stack, including branch run-outs from fixtures, shall be made a minimum distance of ten pipe diameters (based on stack size) downstream from the centerline of the stack. Formerly listed as #SDM 802-0692.
Technical Bulletin #TB-0698 – Drainage Fixture Unit Values For Water Saving Fixtures / Table “A-1”
Summary: Reduced water consumption in modern plumbing fixtures has led to the development of alternate fixture unit values for each individual fixture. These values are found in Table A-1, which will accompany the original Table A as published in CAST IRON SOVENT® DESIGN MANUAL #802.
Technical Bulletin #TB-1199 – Alternate Materials Addendum
Summary: Alternate approved DWV materials may be used in the vertical stack piping as well as branches and run-outs.
Product Updates
Due to reduced demand, Aerator fittings are no longer offered with inlets “E” or “F” in any configuration. All piping layouts may be accommodated by using the “C”, “D” & “G” inlets and in some cases direct connections to the Sovent stack are permitted. Contact our office for details.
The nominal size 4” Aerator fitting is also available with 3” connections for the “C” & “D” inlets. Designed for use with 3” W.C. branch connections, this fitting requires less ceiling space for installation and eliminates the need for reducing couplings. The “G” inlet will remain 3” in size. When ordering, be sure to designate a 4 x 3 Aerator fitting along with the require inlets by letter. (Example: 4x3 ABCDG) Contact our office for dimensional information and sleeve requirements.
